Tell us about yourself?
I'm the racing manager for GB Horseracing, a specialist provider of syndicates and racecourse hospitality. I've also worked as a racing journalist for the past ten years, but I still hold dreams of being a professional footballer…
How did you get involved in racing?
My Dad is Newmarket racehorse trainer Dr Jon Scargill, so I've always been involved albeit my interest was only really piqued when I discovered betting in my early teens. Since then I've gained experience working for auction houses and studs in Britain and Ireland, as well as continuing to bet badly throughout that time.
Tell us all about GB Horseracing?
We've run small, friendly and professional racing syndicates for the past four years. Our approach is to offer affordable syndicates which are run for profit through racing and selling at the right places at the right time – something we have done successfully on several occasions. We don't believe people have to enter ownership with the feeling it is money that is gone and anything you get back is a bonus. After all, the more you get back the more you can reinvest!
How did it start-up / up / plans?
It started when a friend and I spotted an opportunity to target the first All-Weather Championships Final day. Along with the Dr, we bought a wonderful filly called Fanoos for 7,500gns, won £11,500 with her and sold her for 32,000gns. She paid for my honeymoon. It made us realise the potential for short, targeted syndicates. We now have eight horses and hope to continue targeting, and winning, good races and giving our owners a return. That way we can keep working our way up the ladder.
Give us the pricing and the plans available?
We have horses with Dr Jon Scargill, Robert Cowell and Clive Cox. Shares start from £500 all-in, so no extra to pay. Our syndicates consist of no more than 10-12 people. Owners always get badges (no ballots etc) as well as prize-money, bonuses and sales return. We also hold regular stable visits, competitions, racecourse hospitality and send out regular updates on the horses. We believe information is power and are always contactable too.

Fashion Sense, who is in training with Clive Cox, is a filly I have a huge amount of time for. She is ready to run any time now and you can ignore her most recent run as the ground was too soft. Mississippi Miss, trained by the Dr, is a good filly too. She loves fast ground (and really loves being a racehorse). She will win races this season.
